Look, there is a place of passion and there is a place of profit. There are different types of schools
If you’re running an NGO then this post is not for you. But, if you open your school for contributing your quota to the development of the country and to make a profit then this post is for you.
If you don’t have a reason for having a school, you will always complain
I have read different stories of how frustrating running and managing a school is from some school owners
No doubt, the business is not for a feeble-minded person. Yet, people are smiling at the bank.
People are making serious money while some people are making serious excuses.
Those people making serious excuses are always looking for members. They are like ” thank God I am not the only one in this shoe”
Someone said, school business is the worst business on earth. Another person said ” if I am to do a business again, it is school business that I will do”
“You can’t make money if you don’t have a side hustle in this school business” someone noted. Yes, I understand how annoying it is. I know exactly what it means to have a school but not getting results.
I know people that don’t know any other things apart from this school business. They eat, breathe and talk about school business. They are doing well. Mind you, I never said having a side hustle is not good.
While some people complain every time. They regret being in the school business. They complain every time yet, they are not ready to leave the business for those that are not complaining.
If I may ask, is there any business without its ups and down? You see, some school owners are the cause of their present challenges.
How?
Some schools have closed down as a result of leadership problems. Some schools don’t understand that there is a period of giving back to the school and a period of taking from the school.
Some schools have failed to understand that when there is too much withdrawal from the school’s account it will affect it. Some schools are struggling due to a lack of proper record keeping.
Some schools due to diversification into another sector they know nothing about. They didn’t investigate before they invest.
Some schools are on rent only to travel to a village to buy cheap land, whereas the landlord of the building where their school is, is disturbing them.
Some schools have focused more on their competitors than their schools.
Some schools became a thing of the past as a result of starting secondary school when they are not ready.
Some schools are not getting results as a result of trying to change from a low-cost school to a premium school.
SOLUTION.
✔Treat your school as a business.
✔Have a vision
✔Have both administrative & physical structure in place
✔Have policy.
✔Weed the parents that are “not ready” to pay for your services.
✔Focus on what matters most. (First thing first )
✔Know what works for you.
✔keep your financial records well and up to date
✔know when to go for summer
✔ know when to party hard.
✔ appraise yourself and your school
✔ Budget.
✔ pray, play and enjoy yourself.
I can go on and on.
Mind you, the school business is profitable.
People are making excuses while others are making millions. It depends on the angle you are looking at it from.
